We’re shifting lanes

The automotive industry is changing fast, and so are we. Now we’re preparing to step out on our own and focus fully on shaping the future of mobility. Revealing our future name is the first of many stops on this journey. Buckle up, here we go!

Are we referring to you as SKF Vertevo now?

Until we are listed, or close to listing, we remain SKF. You can refer to SKF Vertevo as the name of our future automotive company, but not as our current operating name.

The story of the name

A name is not just a name. It’s a direction and a signal of intent. So, finding a name that lets us talk about our heritage and the way forward was a great challenge. Play the film to learn more about the process of finding our future name.

The meaning of SKF Vertevo

Keeping SKF in the future name signals continuity, credibility, and trust. It honours the legacy we come from and marks our close connection to SKF going forward. Vertevo is a compound of the Latin word Verte, which means “to turn” or “to transform”. Which is exactly what we’re going to do. We’ll create solutions and parts that sparks motion. But we’re also going to turn a page in the history of our company while creating change and progress for our industry. Evo is derived from evolution that signals our mission to co-drive the evolution of mobility together with our partners. It also signals the evolution of this company. We have over 100 years knowledge, but we’re about to enter our next phase. We’re not changing names today, but when we do it will mark the beginning of a new chapter.

“We’re a rather small player in the industry, but we know exactly what we want to do.”

Kerstin Enochsson, President, SKF Automotive
