SKF are continuing to give their full support to the Super TC2000 event as the teams battle it out in the last three races of the tournament, including the most important Buenos Aires 200km in November 2019.

The Super TC2000 is the most sophisticated and technological car racing category in Latin America. It began in 2012 as an evolution of TC2000 and continues to strive for the constant technological advances and innovation that have characterized the competition since its opening in 1979. The Super TC2000 race cars are composed of current production models that are heavily modified and tuned for the track, with specifications very similar to those of the international touring championships. The competition includes 12 races in different cities around Argentina.

What is the relationship between SKF and Super TC2000?

SKF have been sponsoring the event since 2017, providing engine bearings, water pumps and belt kits for all the Super TC2000 competition cars. For every race, SKF invite customers (mainly mechanics and spare part shops) to enjoy a unique experience over two days during which they can visit the pit lane and garages and listen to technical talks given by the different teams involved in the race. They can also be part of the starting grid and take a lap in a show-car around the race track.

What are the rules of the competition?

Prior to 2012, engines of up to 2000 cc were allowed, with only limited modifications from standard engines. This was both to reduce running costs and give a level playing field for every team. Variable valve timing, variable intake geometry, anti-lock braking systems and traction control were all forbidden. From the 2012 season, engine supplier Radical Performance Engines (RPE) provided 2.7 litre RPE TCX V8 engines (a front-wheel-drive variant of the RPX, originally found in the Radical SR8), capable of producing 430 bhp, working at 10,500 rpm, making it the most powerful front-wheel-drive category in the world. The series was renamed to Super TC2000 to reflect these changes. Managing the power from the engine and preserving the tyres is a key element if the teams are to have any chance of winning this prestigious championship.SKF wish all the teams the best of luck for the remaining races and look forward to continuing their support in the future.
