Tensioners ensure perfect belt tension for the engine at hand and act as dampers for vibration and noise. They help avoid belt slipping and never over-apply tension which can reduce belt performance or accessory lifetime.

Freewheel alternator pulley

Smooth driving - experience SKF technology

Our patented freewheel alternator pulley reduces vibrations which helps maintain the performance of the auxiliary components and the multi-V belt for as long as possible.

• One-way roller clutch: reduces weight by 10% and friction by 60%.
• High-speed rotating alternator: operates efficiently by using kinetic energy generated when engine revolutions/min suddenly drop.
• Two greased and sealed deep groove ball bearings: sufficiently support the radial belt load controlling the unwanted movement in the belt (belt slapping).

Auxiliary crankshaft damper

SKF's professional balance between camshaft and auxiliary drive

The downsizing of engines and increased torque at low revs will bring unwanted torsional vibrations which have to be dampened by an active crankshaft damper. With a functioning damper, the auxiliary belt is less likely to break, helps reduce engine fatigue and excessive engine vibrations.

• All crankshaft dampers are available as loose components.
• Single pulley damper with coupling elastomer: includes a layer of rubber inside to filter engine vibrations effectively for long service life.*
• Double pulley damper with flywheel mass technology: dampens and distorts heavy vibrations coming from the belt to help reduce engine fatigue and excessive vibrations.*
